Utilizing benthic foraminifera to explore the environmental condition of the Laizhou Bay (Bohai Sea, China)

Through the analysis of benthic foraminifera in soft bottom sediments Laizhou Bay – Yellow River Delta system, this study characterized foraminiferal biotopes and explored possibility obtaining an index ecological quality comparable with other estuarine coastal environments world. Five have been identified their distribution patterns highlight stress from marine-fluvial water mixing pollution. The species were analyzed as a function organic carbon gradients, main assigned to four groups based on sensitivity/tolerance towards increasing gradient. Finally, relative proportions different used for definition marine biotic foraminifera, i.e. Foram-AMBI, thus assessment status soft-bottom habitats.
